Qualifications
I’ve been qualified as an Art Therapist (Psychotherapist) since 2003 having completed the qualifying Master’s Degree at the University of Hertfordshire.
Training
I am trained in the use of ADOS 2 and the 3Di therefore am able to diagnose and work with people with autism. I have also trained as a LeDer reviewer which improves levels of care and reduces health inequalities amongst people with learning disabilities and autism.

Experience
I have worked in Mental Health services since 2000 and for the last 16 years have been involved in working with children, young people, and families. I took my first art therapy role in Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS) in the NHS in 2004. I have worked in CAMHS inpatient, General and Secure Mental health settings, Community services, Crisis and Specialist Drug and Alcohol services for young people. I have also worked with adults in similar settings.
Alongside my NHS CAMHS experience I have worked within schools with the teaching staff providing consultation as well as directly with children referred to me for support.
I also worked as a CAMHS consultation worker for high needs schools offering support, guidance and consultation to the teachers / SEND (Special Educational Needs or Disability) for those children and young people who the teachers felt needed additional assistance but were not sure how to support emotionally. Sometimes this work involved supporting staff to make referrals to CAMHS services and helping them understand the system that the NHS operates within.

I also work as an Independent Clinical Reviewer for C(E)TR’s adults, children and young people, who have a diagnosis of Learning Disability and / or Autism Spectrum Condition and who are at risk of admission to a CAMHS inpatient unit under the Transforming Care Agenda – an NHS England driven process.
